The Formosa Shield flag shows an enhanced historical representation of the flag of Formosa.
Law No. 1 of June 2, 1958, called for the creation of our official coat of arms. The design was presented by Juan Enrique Bejarano (using the pseudonym Charlo ). It consists of an irregular polygonal field with eight sides, divided into two barracks. The upper barracks are blue with a cotton cocoon, symbolizing a productive and industrial future, crowned by nine symmetrically arranged stars representing the provincial departments. In the lower barracks (below the dividing line), two strong, intertwined hands symbolize the unity of all its children. Above, a rising sun with rays arranged in a corridor symbolizes the new province, and at the bottom are two laurel branches.
The flag is reinforced with a sturdy white band along the hoist side. Two rope loops made of robust flag rope ensure secure mounting.
